How is the human body able to be so accurate at telling time?

I've always found that I have a clear time in my mind that I want to wake up then I will naturally wake up at that time plus or minus a few minutes without the use of an alarm. Even if the times are completely different from day to day. I don't think I'm the only one who's noticed this I remember in famous five books the kids used to hit there head on the pillow for example 7 times if they wanted to wake up at 7. How is the human body able to be so accurate in telling time?

  2. The human body is a quite amazing thing really and is far more sensitive than we often give it credit for. Scientists have calculated that the body's internal clock works on a cycle of 24 hours and 11 minutes. Previous studies had concluded that the body, or circadian, clock worked on a 25-hour period that shortened with age. But a study, funded by the US National Institutes for Health, has found both older and younger healthy people share the same circadian period of a little more than 24 hours. In humans the circadian pacemaker is located deep within the brain's hypothalamus, in the suprachiasmatic nucleus, where it helps the body keep time. It controls a number of body functions and interacts with the mechanisms controlling sleep. It is perfectly feasible that, if your brain is aware of a specific time it needs to wake, that the circadian clock can keep time accordingly.

  4. the thinking is - -your subconsious associates some sound or noise related to a certain time and acts on it.say your paper boy\postman etc delivers at seven o`clock and you want to be up at seven .your subconsiouse hears them and you wakeup at that time(give or take a minute they might be late or early)hope this helps
  5. God created you, so you are doing what He has mapped out for you anyway.
  6. then why are alarm clocks not obsolete
