What is the ideal body shape for female gymnasts?
I am 13 and I do gymnastics. If I wanted a career in gymnastics, what sort of body shape would I need?

- Most gymnastics bodies look the same: they are all short and petite with small breasts.. However if this is not you, it's perfectly fine. You can train your body to be just as capable as any other gymnast. Firstly, you need to have a lot of flexibility and mobility, so strengthen your muscles by training hard and do a lot of stretches - yoga or palates will help you a lot. This will also help your balance more than anything else, and balance is essential in gymnastics.

- Hi Ruby. Well you're still growing so don't worry. If you make a serious commitment you can do great, with any shape. The world is full of stories of people who transcended the "normal" expectations. I'm sure your body is fine though. Good luck!

- It depends what you mean by a career in gymnastics. there are many careers you can have in gymnastics that wont be affected like your body size. For example a coach or a judge. To be in the olympics ideal body size is short, long arms and legs but a shorter torso. Broader shoulders but narrower hips.
- Slim, muscular, short. Eat a well balanced diet.
