What body of water is the most important to Northern Europe and why?
I am doing a project on Northern Europe and I want to concentrate on the most important body of water for Northern Europe, excluding the Atlantic Ocean. What do you think is the most important body of water?

- a fresh water lake would be the most valuable.
- The North Sea - oil; fish; transportation to several countries with just a short distance; barrier for England which has kept England unconquered since 1066; the water which gives England the rainy climate (so good for cattle, sheep veggies etc) and maintains it in the temperate zone (no excessive rise to 100, or lows to 20 (all F)). Anything else I can do for you??
- I'd say it is the Baltic sea. That provides about the only way that export and import goods can come into Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, N. Poland, Sweden, and Finland. There are a few overland routes into Finland from Russia, but the vast majority of goods come via ports on the Baltic. .
